Ok sooooooooooooooooo I was supposed to do an FTP test today, buuuuuut I wont. Here’s why
What’s up guys, my name is charles and welcome back to my cycling channel, if you are new here don’t forget to subscribe for more cycling videos.
About 6 weeks ago I did an overview video of this device, the airofit. I did a first FTP test to see where my fitness was at, and I was super excited to have the chance to test it out, I had a dedicated cycling training program and the first two weeks turned out awesome.
I was training consistently two times per day, 10 minutes per session, I was training in front of my computer watching youtube video, I was training in the bed before nighttime, I was training in my car, on the couch watching TV, I was even training on the shitter man. I was seeing gainz EVERYWHERE!
And in the first two week, I did see a lot of improvement on the bike but I unfortunately can’t show accurate analysis or test results, but for the first time, I was winning or making the podium on most of my A zwift race, I was dropping my friends on every climbs outside, my fitness felt so good, the best it ever was in 2020.
Until I did this stupid challenge.
I mean, I had such a blast doing an everest on a 16.2% climb, if you missed the video, definitely have a look, it’s one of my favorite in a long time.
But prior to the everest, I was super consistent with my training because I had this goal in mind that I was looking forward to.
right after the everest, I took almost a full week off the bike, I needed this rest so bad because a 630 training load is more than you should do in a whole week. Aaaannnnnnnd that’s when my airofit motivation fell through. I missed a day, then a second one, then on and off for over a week, until I lost all willingness to train my breathing, I mean, it’s already hard enough to train on the bike at this time of the year, you have no idea how hard it was to do this everyday, twice a day. Reflecting on this, I now know exactly why my motivation fell through…
It’s simply because it’s the end of the season, there is no race or training camp on the radar, there is absolutely no point for me to keep pushing my fitness from 310 watts FTP to 335 watts at 66 kilos right now
I think it’s just a matter of bad timing with collaboration with Airofit, I currently do not have any goals on target, the season is over, I cycled over 12 000 kilometers this season, I just need to rest and chill, not to do some breathing exercises for marginal gains
Does this means I do not trust the benefits of this device? Absolutely not. I think there are some significant gains to be made, I’ve seen it myself, I just can’t prove it right now because there is no way i’m doing a FTP test today, my body is too tired and I’m not ready for it
Next season, as soon as the first races are announced ( if there is actually some races) I’ll get back onto the airofit 6 to 8 weeks program prior to the event. I’ll document my journey and experience into a future video at that point. But for now, this goes straight to my gear bin.
